With Halloween right around the corner, it's time to have a little fun with
your computer. Here are some sites that should keep you busy and send some shivers up your spine. Remember, you have to check these sites out late at night, alone
and with the lights off!
Winchester House in San Jose
http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/story.html
Here's a little description from their web site: "In 1884, a wealthy widow
named Sarah L. Winchester began a construction project of such magnitude that
it was to occupy the lives of carpenters and craftsmen until her death thirty-eight
years later. The Victorian mansion, designed and built by the Winchester Rifle
heiress, is filled with so
many unexplained oddities, that it has come to be known as the Winchester Mystery
House."
If you're in the area, you can take a physical tour. If the Internet is your
only means of transport, take a virtual tour.
Race you to the attic!

Ghosts of the Prairie–America's Most Haunted Places

Another great site and the link above will tell you the story of the Winchester
Mansion (from the first link).
Haunted Chicago
http://www.hauntedchicago.com/
Chicago is not only known for it's tall buildings, and history of stockyards
and gangsters, but also for it's ghosts. This site provides details about
many investigations related to the paranormal, including lots of thought
provoking photos. And being from Chicago myself, I can tell you that I have
personally visited many of these sites. You definitely get a chill when you
go to some of these locations!

Unlike the average spook site, Haunted Chicago attempts to put a more scientific
perspective and provide possible explanations to various phenomena, as stated
in their mission statement: "Haunted Chicago presents evidence of inexplicable
activity uncovered in our own investigations in the Chicagoland area, as
well as the firsthand accounts of others. Our goal is to conduct investigations
and present results in as consistently scientific a manner as possible, a
method unlike that which you will find with most other paranormal research
organizations on the Internet."
Bachelor's Grove Cemetery–The Most Haunted Place in Chicago
http://www.prairieghosts.com/bachgrov.html
Dare ya to visit this place late at night! Double dare ya!
"There are more ghost stories and eerie legends told about this small, abandoned
cemetery than any other place in the Chicago area."
As explained on the site, regarding the above image of the woman sitting on
the bench: "This photo is courtesy of Dale Kaczmarek and was taken at
Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. The photo was taken by Mari Huff with high-speed,
infra-red film during a daylight investigation of the site. The cemetery was
empty when the photo was taken and yet the figure of this woman appeared on
the developed print.
This photo remains unexplained."
