Our Anniversary—You Get the Gifts!

by Dian Chapman, MVP, MOS

May, 2004, marks TechTrax second birthday!

For those of you who have just recently joined us, you'll want to check out our two archives. Why two? Well, I could tell you that it's because we're just so darn efficient that we provide you with choices. But the truth of the matter is that, because I'm rotten at knowing all the ways our readers might want to search for an article, I occasionally miss the proper META tag and that means you can't find the article you need! So in an effort to bypass my ineptitude, I've created an ongoing list of issues/articles that you can simply browse—all on one page. You can find the magazine's searchable back issues by clicking the Archive button along the top menu of TechTrax. To view the supplemental list of all articles, click this link to go to the MouseTrax listing.

People occasionally ask me how we can offer all this terrific information without a catch. In other words, how do we survive without advertising? The answer: TechTrax is Lucky! Lucky that Logical Expressions has given us a great deal to use their very cool publishing software. And very lucky, too, in that we have a lot of terrific authors who enjoy helping others. Each month I solicit them for articles...and they come through for TechTrax by sending me text from their brain.

Why would they volunteer to write? In many cases, the writers are also consultants. As a way to help promote their expertise, they write about what they know. The hope here is that you'll get to know us, trust us, depend on our expertise and look to us for solutions.

Maybe you want to take an online class to learn how to use your software better? There are tons of places on the net you can go to sign up for online classes. But if you get to know Linda Johnson and me (Dian Chapman) through our writings, we hope you'll sign up for the courses we offer by clicking the Training button along the top menu in TechTrax.

And when that brilliant idea hits you and you realize you have a terrific solution for saving your company money, but you don't know how to implement the programming code or automation to get the job done, you'll click the Consulting button along the top menu in TechTrax and hire one of us to help you build your vision.

So, as you can see, we do have advertising. We're just much more subtle about the way we present it!

And this month, we're going a step further to show off our talents by giving away some of the offerings that our writers usually sell. We have a lot of talented staff here! As a gift to you, many of our writers have given us free copies of their software or training courses to give away in honor of our anniversary. Below are links that will take you to separate articles explaining more details about each item. On each of those pages, there is a link at the bottom that you can click to enter a separate drawing for each item.

At the end of the month, when we draw the winner for the free copy of Office 2003 (a drawing you can enter by filling out our Survey this month), we will also hold separate drawings for each of the items listed below.

Good luck!

TechTrax Anniversary Drawing Giveaways

TechTrax will draw winners for each of these separate drawings on Wednesday, May 26th. Winners will be notified via email and the respective author will be responsible for getting you your prize. Realize that these are all separate drawings! That means you must enter each one separately. Yes, you can enter them all! But we would suggest that if you have no interest in the item being offered that you do not waste a space by entering so those who really want the item can have a better chance to win. Thanks!
