Microsoft Access is a database program. It allows you to build data structures so you can gather, organize, maintain and use data. If you have never used Access, this series will get you rolling learning this powerful program. However, if you have not read the Access 1—Introduction article, I strongly suggest you do that first.

In this article, we'll discuss relational databases and you'll see what this term means as you follow along to create a relationship between tables in a sample database.
