Over the years as Microsoft has published new versions of Word, the developers of the program have slipped in some extra tools that they have created on their own and used, probably either for testing Word throughout its development or just as something to fill in Word feature gaps when the developers ate their own dog food (a term, most likely devised by Microsoft meaning using their own software).
These somewhat hidden tools have been slipped into the packaging of each version of Word as extras that are not generally supported by Microsoft, but are there for the geeks and gurus who know how to nose around and find them. In this article, I'll not only tell you about these tools...many of which have found their way into later versions as actual features...but tell you how to find and use them.
