Hi there. My name is Doreen Yale.
Born in England in 1951, I emigrated to Canada in 1998 and love it! I am a landed immigrant here and live with my husband Mike (who I married on St Valentine’s Day 1999) and our two guide dogs Fergie and Raquel. Fergie trained in England—and wouldn’t you know it with a name like that.!!!
I also have a twenty-five year old son Brian, also trained and living in England!!!
My work experience is primarily of an Administrative Assistant/Secretarial/Executive Assistant nature with most of my working life being spent in Britain’s prisons system. I should add that I was outside the locked doors rather than on the inside.
Since coming to Canada I have obtained MOUS certification in MS Word and Excel. I am currently unemployed and looking for work.
My interests include writing “stuff” (though I’m still struggling for that first publication); reading via Braille and tape; music (folk is my favorite genre), but also most other music apart from heavy opera; walking with Fergie, with whom I love to be out in the open; political and social activism (mostly for the rights of people with disabilities...I guess over here I would be termed extreme Liberal); computers, (without mine I’d go crazy), even though it does seem like most times I take two steps forward and one step backward when learning the programs I need); and acting. I’m currently rehearsing for “Joseph and the Techni-Colored Dream Coat” which is being staged in our town in February/March of next year.
I love interacting with people and just basically being alive!!!
