Born in Scotland I had a rather traditional relationship with computers becoming
interested in them in my early teens. As well as playing games I enjoyed programming
too and after leaving school I did a degree in Software Engineering. After that
I struggled to get my foot in the door with software houses but eventually got
a job with a company that specialised in Microsoft technologies.
I have since moved on from that job but continue to work exclusively with Microsoft
products and technologies. My jobs usually require a wide range of skills and
knowledge in a range of technologies from VB/VB.net through to MSMQ, SQL Server,
ASP/ASP.net, COM/COM+ etc. In addition to my formal work I also do my best to
help the Microsoft community as a whole and am a Microsoft MVP for ASP.
Much like a celibate gynaecologist I tend to confine my work with computers
now to my job and I tend to invest my spare time in other pursuits because I
believe that one should become a person like other people. My main interest
outside of computers is whatever car I happen to own at the time. I also help
run a few club web sites and contribute to a number of ASP sites on a sporadic
basis.
