Remember having to cut up a frog in high school? Blah! Sure, it was cool and
educational if you could get past the gross thoughts of digging inside that
gooey frog! Or maybe you were one of the lucky ones who never had to kill Kermit! So were you curious? Now, thanks to modern web design and technology, there's
a really cool web site that will not only teach you and your kids all about
the biology of frogs, but it'll allow you to dissect a frog, right there on
your computer, without wasting a life. Check out www.froguts.com.

The site is extremely well done. Granted, I didn't find instructions about
how to use the scalpel and other tools right off, but a little double clicking and dragging experimentation
with the tools and I quickly got the hang of what I needed to do to operate the instruments
so I could proceed with the dissection.

The site provides the appropriate tools and show you where and how to make the proper cuts.
It's so true to life, that you even have to pin down the parts!

It's totally interactive. Just like being back in biology class. Time to identy
all the organs.

The screens take you deep down through all the gooey frog parts, explaining
their functions.

And lets not forget cutting open the stomach and checking out all it's sickening
contents! Blah!

You even get to investigate the brain and central nervous system. As well as
work a puzzle that requires you to reassemble the skelton by moving parts around on the
page. Hints help make the puzzle less frustrating,
incase you don't know where to connect the leg bone to the hip bone!
OK, sure. It's really gross. But it's also extremely educational. And what
kid doesn't enjoy getting "grossed out"? Next rainy day, when you're trying
to come up with interesting ideas to keep the kids busy, set them up on the
computer at www.froguts.com
and let them have fun getting grossed out. And you won't have to listen to screams
because Tommy's chasing Nancy around the livingroom yelling "the liver's
gonna GET you!"
